Heinrich-Heine-Park in Rudolstadt

in the Heinrich-Heine-Park Rudolstadt The Heinrich-Heine-Park near the banks of the Saaleriver in Rudolstadt constitutes the socalled green pulmonary of the city between main part of Rudolstadt and the towndistrict Cumbach.
The park is extending over an area of almost 3 hectares and is inviting you to relaxe by walking on its ways and to have a rest on the benches.
The tree population contains mainly local tree manners, such as pastures, beeches, chestnuts, limewoods, birches, acacias, oaks, elms and others.
The Heine-Park is adjoining to the Saale river, some sports plces, to the open air bath, to a big union of gardens with the name "Große Wiese", the living district Cumbach, the festival place - the "Bleichwiese" (Bleachmeadow) and the both bridges for pedestrians "Elisabethbrücke" and "Alte Stadtbrücke".

During the time of floods in spring time the first row of trees on Saale banks are most in water. Further a bigger area of the park is more seldomly flooded insignificantly short-timely after the thaw.
At the south edge of the park the "Thüringer Bauernhäuser" - Farmer houses arelocated. It was founded in 1914 as the first German open air museum. It's very interesting. There 3 original farmer houses from Unterhasel have been built up new here. The houses contain historical things from the typical former living stile of farmers. Also an old historical pharmacy, like the thuringian herbs collectors worked, you can see here.
A memorial of the Rudolstädter Seniorenconvent (a former studens union) is also situated in the Heine-Park since 1927.
2 big cages with birds like budgerigars, parakeets, canarys, pheasants and a playground for children are completing the offer of the spare-time-aim Heinrich-Heine-Park in Rudolstadt.

The Rudolstadtian Heinrich-Heine-Park is inviting you in all seasons to an interessanting walk. The Farmer Houses unfortunately only have opened from April to Okrober by now, but also in automn and winter it's nice to have a look into the park or to walk there.
As a special order and after a previous arrangement the route of a sightseeingtour can be routed so, that it will lead to the Heine-Park of Rudolstadt. You can visit the park then.
